Taking X-rays during pregnancy

Safety of dental X-rays in pregnancy – it is worth knowing that the doses used in modern X-ray diagnostic equipment are very low and the collimation of the radiation beam and the use of lead shielding on the patient being examined with particular attention to the pregnant uterus are crucial. The area of irradiation is limited to the head and neck only. In our practice, we have a CT scanner that emits the lowest radiation dose in its class. This dose is almost the same as in the pantomographic apparatus. However, due to the variety of data and studies in this area, it is considered that diagnostic radiography in pregnancy should be kept to a minimum and only performed in highly necessary cases.
